Carat (Weight)
Each diamond has its own weight. The unit of measurement used to quantify this weight is the Carat, which corresponds to 0.20 grams. The larger a diamond is, the higher the size, and the higher its value will increase. However, it is important to remember that the value of a diamond is determined by evaluating all 4C, not just the weight in carats. In the diamond industry, the gems’s weight is measured up to one thousandth of a carat and then rounded up in hundreds, commercially called "point". The price of the diamond, which is expressed in carat, never increases mathematically in relation to its weight. A diamond weighing two carats, therefore, will not cost twice as much as a diamond of one carat of the same quality, but much more.
